With the release of the 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | Art, SIGMA introduces yet another world first: the world's first full-frame zoom lens with a constant maximum aperture of F1.8. This lens not only offers sharpness and clarity comparable to that of a prime lens, but it is also incredibly fast and equipped with various innovative features. In other words, with this lens, SIGMA adds a new, versatile, and high-quality tool to its Art line.

SIGMA has successfully developed the first full-frame zoom lens with a maximum aperture of F1.8. The SIGMA 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | Art features an internal zoom mechanism, a minimum focusing distance of 30 cm across the entire zoom range, and a filter thread of φ82 mm. Despite its brightness and advanced features, the lens weighs less than 1 kg.

A maximum aperture of F1.8, once available only in prime lenses, allows full-frame camera users to shoot in low-light situations and create beautiful bokeh, while benefiting from the flexibility of a zoom lens. This unique optical performance is achieved through SIGMA's advanced optical design experience and production technology in Aizu, Japan.

Thanks to the internal zoom mechanism, the lens length remains constant, regardless of focal length or focus distance. This makes the lens easy to use for handheld photography, highly stable on a tripod or gimbal, and more resistant to dust and water. The minimum focusing distance is consistently 30 cm across the entire zoom range, with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4 at the telephoto end. This provides excellent close-up capabilities without the fear of losing sharpness.

By precisely correcting optical aberrations across the entire zoom range, the SIGMA 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | Art offers sharpness and definition comparable to that of prime lenses. Thanks to advanced coatings, the lens produces clear images even in backlit situations, while focus breathing is thoroughly suppressed, providing expressive power to both filmmakers and photographers.

In addition to its excellent optical performance, this lens offers a range of professional features such as fast and customizable autofocus, a durable weather-resistant design, a de-clickable aperture ring, smooth manual focusing, and two AFL buttons on the lens mount. Various functions can be assigned to these AFL buttons via the selected camera’s menu. An additional AFL button is placed on top to facilitate button operation when the camera is held in a vertical position. The lens owes its speed to the so-called High-response Linear Actuator (HLA), a newly developed linear motor responsible not only for fast but also extremely precise and silent autofocus.
